Abstract :
The authors have developed a methodology that represents the dynamics of R&D organizations based on intellectual products such as patents and academic publications. The methodology has the advantages of objective procedures and the usage of data which are open to the public. This paper aims to analyze the characteristics of R&D organizational processes of companies in Japan and in the United States by using the methodology, and to compare them. It reveals the differences in interrelations in R&D organizations
