Abstract :
This paper presents the design of sliding mode observer based fuzzy logic controller for the excitation control of multi-machine power system. The proposed control strategy can avoid uncertainties and perturbations in the measurement of system states and also overcome some of the difficulties in the model-based methods such as nonlinearities, unpredictable behavior of power system etc. To illustrate the performance of the designed observer based controller, a three machine, nine-bus WSCC multi-machine power system has been considered. Simulation results indicate the system with the controller has better damping features to survive from a severe transient stability problem.
