Abstract :
A constant power control strategy of electronic ballast for metal halide lamps is proposed in this paper. It is based on digital control with MCU controller. The lamp current is adjusted to ensure the lamp voltage variation in a small range according to the negative resistance characteristics of the metal halide lamps. Therefore, the lamp power is maintained constantly without any calculation. It is simple and efficient because of avoiding power calculation.
