Abstract :
This paper considers optical orthogonal codes (OOCs) with variable chip rates. In the previous studies on OOCs have been performed on uniform/non-uniform code length/weight distributions. They provide different QoS and bit error properties in optical CDMA networks. However, the assumption of design with a common chip rate requires all users in a network must have fast optical transmitters and receivers which can detect short pulses even when some low-end users are included. To solve this, we propose OOCs with variable chip rates and show some results of code search. Its theoretical bound and bit error rate performance is also obtained and discussed.
