Abstract :
We demonstrate a fused fiber optic variable attenuator with a polymer sub-cladding layer. It exhibits a wide dynamic range of 1.5-45 dB, relatively flat wavelength response, and high thermal sensitivity of up to 3 dB//spl deg/C.
