  • Abstract
A simple one-pot hydrothermal method was used to prepare ZnO/Ag composites by adding zinc acetate and silver nitrate in turn into a high temperature glycol solvent. The ZnO/Ag composites were characterised by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and photoluminescence (PL). The results show that the octahedral ZnO particle was synthesised, before the spherical silver nanoparticles were reduced and uniformly adhered onto the surface of the ZnO. The PL spectra indicated that doping of the silver improves the PL property of the composites.
