Abstract :
A split-ring resonator (SRR) based isolation enhancement technique is presented in this work. The proposed method increases the isolation between the elements of a complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) loaded patch based MIMO antenna systems. A single SRR is used between the two antenna elements for isolation enhancement. The method is applied to a 4-element MIMO antenna system operating in the ISM band. A 7 dB increase in isolation is achieved. The isolation method is thoroughly investigated and different parameters of the antenna with the proposed isolation structure are compared with the antenna without any isolation structure.
