Abstract :
The increasing operational deployment of radar with enhanced Doppler and polarimetric capabilities has raised the issue of how the additional information these systems provide should best be used in practical application. In order to begin to address this issue the European Union has funded the Polarisation and Doppler Radar Experiment (PADRE), a collaborative research project involving partners from the UK, Italy and Germany and aimed at improving the operational use made of these technologies. The remit of this project was further extended under the PECO programme in 1994 to consider dual-frequency techniques in collaboration with partners from Romania, the Slovak and Czech Republics
