Abstract :
The work presented in this paper is aimed at investigating various possible dimensions of Savonius rotor for stable hydro power generation using induction generator. The variations of height and diameter of Savonius rotor when used as hydro turbine impact the performance of the system and require certain velocity of water to produce the desired level of voltage and frequency. AC-DC-AC converter is used with hysteresis current controller to achieve the desired frequency at the load end. MATLAB simulation is carried out at different dimensions with various velocities of water. The MATLAB/Simulink model of each component of the system such as Savonius rotor, asynchronous generator, power converter, LCL filters and control schemes is presented.
