Abstract :
This paper reports the development of an FMCW radar front-end system integrated on one single substrate based on substrate integrated circuits (SICs) technology. The application of SICs not only enables the complete integration of microwave circuits to attain system level, but also combine respective advantages of planar structures such as microstrip and non-planar structures such as waveguides as demonstrated by a "surface-volume" inherent integration approach. The design methodologies of system building blocks including SIW mixer and antenna have been discussed and measurement results are given in the paper. Laboratory-based experiments have been conducted to verify the functionality of the radar
