Abstract
The effect of a triple-junction solar cell on the radiation performance of a dielectric resonator antenna (DRA), which is mounted on top of the solar cell, is investigated by means of full-wave computational electromagnetic analyses. Only a slight shift in resonant frequency is observed for a DRA mounted on top of a solar panel to one mounted on a perfect electrically conducting ground plane. This is observed even over a large parameter space for the solar cell. The metallic contacts in the solar cell, however, may causes resonances that may, depending on the geometric layout, influence the performance of the DRA.
