Welcome to the 1st International Workshop on Software Engineering Education based on Real-World Experiences (EduRex 2012)

EduRex 2012 provides a discussion forum for people from universities and industry with an interest in enriching learning with practical content, project-oriented learning, etc. To stimulate discussions in break-out groups, we asked to submit reports on successful courses, statements of open problems, and plans on how to support experience- oriented learning in the future. We had a total of 17 submissions, of which 10 were accepted. This volume contains the papers accepted for presentation at EduRex 2012. We are grateful for the time and effort all the program committee members have generously given to EduRex 2012.
