Abstract :
Summary form only as given. This paper has attempted to find out success factors in technology transfer from government-funded research institutes to industries in developing country situations. The three-year pilot technology transfer program of the Korean government, which transfers R&D results obtained by the government funded research institutes to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), was analyzed. Based on empirical and case analysis, three key success factors were identified: commitment; communication; and complementarity. From the perspective of the management of technology transfer program, complementarity between firms and research institutes should be emphasized, especially in developing countries
