Abstract
Variable speed operation of wind turbines presents certain advantages over constant speed operation. Reliable and powerful control strategies are needed for wind energy conversion systems to achieve maximum performance. This paper stated two control strategies for variable speed operation, include Speed-mode control and Torque-mode control. Maximum power tracking and power fluctuation will be analysed when exciting the different configurations with a particular wind profile. Simulation results by using actual detailed parameters for wind turbine show the effectiveness and robustness of this control Strategy.
