Abstract
This paper presents a new double-stator directly driven permanent magnet machine for wind power generation. The machine configuration is so unique that it can significantly improve the torque density with small cogging torque. Because of the nature of double-stator windings, the machine can flexibly change their connections, hence providing a constant output voltage over a wide speed range for battery charging. Computer simulation is conducted by using the time-stepping finite element method. Both simulation and experimental results are given to verify the validity of the proposed machine.
