Abstract :
The modeling of boost rectifiers supplying linear and constant voltage loads has been given adequate attention up till now. However, the modeling of this type of rectifiers supplying voltage sensitive loads has not been properly addressed. This paper therefore focuses on the dynamic and steady state analysis of this type of rectifier system. The model equations for this type of rectifier system both in natural (a, b, c) state and in direct and quadrature axes (q, d) reference frame are derived. These equations are used to obtain the system variables plots at steady state. These include the plots of voltage and current at unity power factor operation. The results obtained show that the constant impedance components of the nonlinear loads has the most significant impacts on the performance of the rectifier.
