Abstract :
This paper deals with the problem of choosing the best possible shipping alternative among a set of transportation modes with the consideration of value of time. Through trade-off between money and time, shippers can choose different transport modes according to different product attributes. We start with a brief description of key issues in mode choice of freight intermodal transport, and sense of incorporating value of time into the evaluation system. Then it describes a model which includes the effect of value of time, traditionally associated with mode choice. Then we develop a case study, to keep the model simple, I assumed a fixed origin and destination: Chongqing in China and Antwerp in Europe.
