Abstract
EM modeling of real life structures in the majority of cases starts from an appropriate CAD model. In order to prepare such a model for EM simulation, the model has to be meshed. The number of unknowns can be dramatically reduced by using higher order basis functions and a quadrilateral mesh. A novel and efficient quadrilateral mesh technique, optimized for higher order basis functions, is presented in this paper. The efficiency and accuracy of this technique is compared with two other meshing techniques, which are based on creation of a triangular mesh and conversion of this mesh into a quadrilateral mesh.
