Abstract
A novel methodology for teaching the subject of the dynamic response of switch mode DC/DC power conversion (SM) systems was developed and tested in the class environment. The method applies equivalent circuit models of the power stage and the duty-cycle generation circuitry to describe the low frequency behavior of SM systems and to perform numerical and symbolic analyses by general purpose computer packages (SPICE, MATLAB, MATHEMATICA). Continuous and discontinuous conduction modes of classical PWM topologies, for both voltage and current control methods are discussed
