Abstract :
The pickup electrodes (PUEs) in the NSLS (National Synchrotron Light Source) storage rings are of the four-button type. Near the center of the PUE, the beam position can be well approximated with a linear function of the sum and the difference signals induced on these electrodes by the bunched beam. The nonlinear response of the PUEs further from the center was measured. An algorithm to compensate for this effect was developed.<>
