Abstract :
This study has examined the technological innovation capability (TIC) and the patterns of investment into technology introduction and internal process to find the dynamic change of the investment patterns with capability growth of Chinese power equipment manufactories based on 71 samples from 5 provinces. We observe the change of openness, closeness and PvP (the ratio of input in platform innovation to that in product innovation) to TIC growth of the firms in the manner of curve estimation and regression. It has shown that openness decreases with TIC while closeness increases with TIC, and PvP decreases. It has revealed that the Chinese power equipment industry has followed a path of catching-up, and some leading firms have entered a stage of stable development.
