Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an optimization framework for the design of CDMA based cellular networks. The framework incorporates both the uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) quality of service (QoS) constraints to determine the base station (BS) selection and base station to mobile user association. The framework also allows the network planner the flexibility to trade-off the net profit with the total transmission power. The framework also allows the network operator to examine the effect of varying number of service classes and frequency reuse factor. Representative numerical results of the optimization are given.
