Abstract :
Today there is a wide range of research disciplines that deal with the creation, administration, maintenance and evaluation of knowledge. We focus on two established approaches to knowledge management systems-namely superimposed information as well as domain ontologies. We also focus on problems arising with Web content management systems. Since the underlying abstract model of topic maps provides a high degree of power and flexibility, they can be used to combine these approaches. Moreover, topic maps offer a framework supporting the evolutionary construction of computer-based organizational memories. The presented system architectures have been developed in cooperation with one of the largest Internet sites in Austria as well as with an international lawyer´s office
