Abstract :
A program is developed and used to evaluate the performance of missile guidance and control systems. The program simulates a six-degree-of-freedom bank-to-turn (BTT) missile in pursuit of a three-degree-of-freedom evading target. The simulation includes: realistic missile and actuator dynamics, a seeker navigation system model, various target models, several integration methods, an autopilot system, and several missile guidance laws. Missile dynamics include nonlinear features such as speed, and altitude dependent aerodynamics, fuel consumption effects on mass and moments of inertia, second-order actuator end sensor dynamics with saturation, and noisy discretized signals. This missile-target engagement is simulated and graphically displayed using the C/C++ programming language. C/C++ offers object oriented structure, speed, maintainability and ease of debugging. The programmer interface was designed using Microsoft Windows. Graphical contributions include 3D views of the missile-target engagement and missile yaw, pitch, and roll angular motion.
