Abstract :
In this paper, we introduce a supervisory control strategy for a diesel engine equipped with variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The control structure is based on linear quadratic regulator (LQR) method. The model is strictly nonlinear, so we develop a new error structure for the system to improve the output responses. Using this error structure, we have modified the control effort. To make the controller performance better, a higher level supervisor has been used to change the controller parameters. The performance of the controller has been justified by simulation.
