Abstract :
Variable speed performance has become increasingly important for appliances in the home due to the increased emphasis on energy efficiency. Three phase inverters driving conventional induction motors under simple V/f scalar control offer continuously variable speed performance but until recently the total system cost has precluded the use of such solutions in white goods and HVAC systems. This paper describes the architecture and features of a new family of easy to use low-cost PWM controllers which were developed and launched by GPS in 1997
