Abstract :
This paper presents smart vehicle management system (SVMS) that consists of gateway, hand-set and vehicle management program (VMP). Nowadays, a vehicle contains many electronic devices connected with LIN, CAN and FlexRay in order to meet the needs of customers and improve the performance of the vehicle. As the number of electronic devices has increased, automatic control and management have been made possible. Especially, automatic management of a vehicle will provide great benefits to owner (driver) because of the reduction in maintenance and increase in convenience. In this paper, we construct a simple SVMS which can represent a practical automotive system. The proposed SVMS uses CDMA wireless communication to control and manage the vehicle. CDMA allows us to access the vehicle anywhere anytime. In addition a hand-set can be used as the remote-controller for the vehicle. VMP provides a graphic user interface which controls the vehicle and owner. The gateway plays a role of relay. The developed gateway is intermediate between handsets, VMPs and vehicular devices because this system supports LIN, CAN, FlexRay and CDMA interfaces. Thus, the proposed SVMS is very useful in achieving not only telematics and the ubiquitous environment within a vehicle but also for electric managing.
