Abstract :
With the demise of the 5 V logic standard, the decision of which DC voltage to bus in a digital system has become less certain. This paper discusses alternatives that are readily available to today´s designer. It looks at the pros and cons of bussing everything from a logic voltage such as 3.3 V to the 48 V used in many telecom applications. The paper examines the alternatives from the standpoint of cost, performance, size, flexibility, component availability and power system reliability
