Abstract :
As multimedia services and personal communication services (PCS) become more popular, broadband ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) backbone networks become an attractive transport for data as well as signaling. We develop the architecture of PCS with an ATM backbone and the signaling protocols for mobile-controlled handoff, identify the corresponding implementation issues, and analyze the performance of the handoff signaling
