Abstract :
In this paper a cost- and space-reducing hardware realization of a broadband GMSK coder is described by using off-the-shelf PLD-technology. This flexible technology allows the realization of a coder that can process input datarates from a few hundred Kbit/s up to 8 Mbit/s by simply changing the following local elements: the low-cost crystal-oscillator and the output lowpass-filter. The second part of this paper describes a method which has not been realized in hardware yet. A quadrature modulation of the GMSK baseband spectrum by purely using simple digital techniques is presented
