Abstract
The paper addresses the problem of channel allocation in cellular network in a distributed environment with minimum message complexity and channel acquiring time. This is achieved by partitioning the cells of the network into clusters where one cell may belong to more than one cluster. The rapid increase in cellular communication requires a channel allocation scheme which is not only efficient but also reliable and scalable. In this paper we propose a technique where channel assignment is done in a distributed way as intra-cluster assignment. The performance of the technique is verified with simulation.
