Abstract :
A set of tools and techniques useful in the development of Common Lisp software in a heterogeneous machine environment is described. The set of tools includes a test manager, a system builder, and a librarian facility. These tools are implemented in Common Lisp and the Common Lisp Object System (CLOS) utilizing a machine-independent file path construct. These tools are compared with their counterparts in conventional programming environments from a software engineering perspective. How this set of tools can be extended by integrating it with an intelligent data dictionary is discussed
