  • Abstract
Fiber-optic single-mode transmitter and photodetector for high frequency (7.5-9.5 GHz) analog or high-bit-rate digital optical links was designed as alternative device for standard coaxial or waveguide microwave telecommunication equipment. The transmitter is based on high-frequency 1.3 /spl mu/m laser diode with low parasitic capacitance construction, the photodetector is based on high-speed 40 /spl mu/m (dia) InP/InGaAs PIN photodiode. Low-noise operation of optical link "transmitter-photodetector" was demonstrated without optical isolators due to original low back-reflection construction of photo-detector and FC/APC pigtail connectors. The electrical output/input transmission ratio was reached (-28...-32) dB, RIN=(-135...-145) dB/Hz, frequency band may be widened up to 10.5 GHz.
