Variable Factors of Influence in Product Line Development

Why it is necessary, to include factors that have a direct effect on software development projects, particularly in the context of product line development? Development and maintenance of complex application systems are linked to challenges that have a strong influence of a straight course of the project. In this context, it means factors of influence that affect in different manner and intensity the success of the project. Because these factors of influence and their effects are mostly unknown at the beginning of the project, they are considered insufficiently during the planning phase. In this context, expert interviews are chosen as the method for determining the influencing factors. It is a matter to structure these factors categorically to provide a basis for the systematic transfer of identified future influences into the model. This structure should serve as a foundation for the development of influencing factors whose basic description is carried out exemplarily. Another goal is to develop an empirical analysis whereby a coupling of these factors and project-specific surveys should be reached.
