Abstract
Design results of a wide-angle coverage 20/30 GHz (Ka band) multiple-beam antenna to be flown on the first Algerian civil communication satellite are presented here. The high gain spot beams with low sidelobe levels and high efficiency antenna are generated by employing an offset reflector antenna. This paper considers the use of an offset reflector with a feed array as a way of combining the high gain of the reflector with the high performance of the antenna array pattern. Results of the demonstration antenna have shown that sidelobe level of better than -30 dB is achieved for beams scanned over a two-degree diameter circular coverage region.
