Abstract :
In this paper, selective modal analysis is applied for a power system comprising two identical generators connected to an infinite bus through a series compensated transmission line and experiencing subsynchronous resonance(SSR). The effect of varying the compensation factor and loading condition is investigated. The effectiveness of excitation controllers designed on the basis of a single machine infinite busbar system to damp SSR oscillations in the considered system is assessed.
