  • Abstract
Summary form only given. We construct low power (<50 W) atmospheric pressure plasma jet (AAPJ) that operates in a DC mode. We subsequently characterize the optical emission spectra from the AAPJ discharge for a variety of feed gases and vapors such as He, Ne, N2, Ar, O2, CH3OH vapor, Air/H2O vapor. We then use the AAPJ as a direct injection source of plasma activated species into several aqueous solutions. We report the rate of hydrogen peroxide production in deionized water. We also present the results of the direct injection of plasma activated species as a method for discoloration of organic dyes and discuss further chemical and industrial applications of this technique, as well as suggest other possible applications of the direct injection process.
