Abstract :
The Pearl River Delta region is one of the important areas where wind energy resources best match conditions for development of a non-grid-connected wind power industry in China. Fully exploiting the onshore and offshore wind energy resources and developing large-scale a non-grid-connected wind power industry in the Pearl River Delta region cannot only promote regional sustainable development, but also can provide a model for the coastal areas and the whole country. Consequently, we explored the development foundation for non-grid-connected wind power industry in the Pearl River Delta region. Based on analysis of the current situation, we put forward some development goals, i.e., the total installed capacity of wind power in the Pearl River Delta region will reach 10 million kilowatts in 2020, and the proportion of non-grid-connected wind power to the total will be 30%. Subsequently, we put forward a tentative plan for constructing a national industrial base for a large-scale non-grid-connected wind power industry and a national industrial base for a high-energy, low-coal-consumption industry in the Pearl River Delta region. The core area of the Pearl River Delta region will become a national wind power equipment manufacturing center. The eastern and western areas along the coastland will become two national wind power bases, and the coastal area of the Pearl River Delta region will become a national development center for a high-energy, low-coal-consumption industry.
