Abstract
IEEE 802.11e standard is introduced to enhance quality of service (QoS). A hybrid coordinator function (HCF) controlled channel access (HCCA) scheduler of the standard IEEE 802.11e is only efficient for flows with constant bit rate (CBR) characteristics. In this paper, we propose a new HCCA scheduling scheme which aims to be efficient for variable bit rate (VBR) flows as well as CBR flows. The proposed scheme uses fuzzy queue length predictions to adjust its time allocation to each station. We present a set of simulations and provide performance comparisons with the reference HCCA scheduler.
