Abstract :
In this work, a simulation study of run-to-run control is developed for multiple-daily injections (MDI) therapy. Insulin lispro and insulin glargine are employed in the protocol which uses pre- and post-prandial glucose measurements. The key information during the synthesis of the control algorithm is the patient insulin sensitivity that is calculated considering that there is no previous information about the subject. This information needs to be estimated recursively using on-line data. After the sensitivity is recalculated, the run-to-run correction scheme is updated, obtaining an adaptive MDI therapy. Controller robustness is evaluated by parameter variation on glucose-insulin model to characterize different in silico subjects.
