Abstract :
3G systems aim to fulfill the requirements of bandwidth-hungry services. They will offer global mobile multimedia communication capabilities in a seamless and efficient manner by supporting data rates up to 2 Mbps. This paper covers issues relating to 3G air-interface standards and the fixed part of the network, followed by a discussion on 4G systems, the successors to 3G ones.
