Abstract
This paper describes a new design concept of airborne equipment of secondary radar systems. The concept allows implementing two principal airborne systems, more exactly Mode S transponder and TCAS, as a multifunctional unit. This concept gives a possibility to make half the number of necessary aircraft antennas as well as to decrease the number of units and equipment cost. All functions of and requirements to both TCAS and Mode S transponder systems are achieved in accordance with the correspondent international documents. The prototype of the system is described and the results of flight tests are presented.
