Abstract
A photonic approach for controllable microwave phase inverter is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The electro-optic switch based on the polarization rotation in polarization modulator (POLM) is exploited to control the phase of microwave signal after the counter-phase modulation in electro-optic phase modulator (EOPM), thus, the controllable microwave phase inverter is realized. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results, which indicates successful phase inversion and can be directly used for the binary phase shift keying (BPSK) subcarrier modulation in the high-speed signal transmission in fiber-optic radio links.
