Abstract
Traffic preview information is helpful when constructing energy management strategies for hybrid vehicles. In this paper, an optimal control theory-based energy management strategy for fuel cell hybrid vehicles is proposed, which optimizes the vehicle´s velocity profile when minimizing the fuel consumption based on the traffic preview information. The control problem is formulated and the proposed energy management strategy is applied to a fuel cell hybrid vehicle in a computer simulation environment. Simulation results show that the fuel economy is improved by the proposed energy management strategy compared to the case where the vehicle velocity is not optimized.
