Abstract :
This paper addresses the problem of designing thinned linear and planar arrays with low peak sidelobe levels. It is seen that the optimisation method known as simulated annealing is effective in designing such arrays. We show that simulated annealing performs well on this synthesis problem by comparing the performance of the arrays designed with those designed by means of a genetic algorithm and using a probabilistic analysis
