Abstract :
This paper explores the use of mobile technologies for healthcare work by community health workers (CHWs) in less developed countries. The paper draws upon existing literature to identify issues that can affect the success of such projects. This is further supported with a case study of the use of personal digital assistants to support local and remote working of CHWs in a developing country. Key issues related to the physical, practical and social contexts are likely to have an impact on successful mobile support projects.
