Abstract :
A new configuration of relativistic magnetron with axial output extraction has been proposed in order to improve microwave generation efficiency. In this configuration, the microwave output coupling between the magnetron cavity and the cylindrical waveguide is significantly improved. Numerical simulations performed by using three-dimensional code "MAGIC" have predicted microwave output power of ~1 GW with conversion efficiency of ~37%. Experiments were carried out using repetitive pulsed power generator "ETIGO-IV" (400 kV, 13 kA, 120 ns). The experimental results have indicted that the new configuration of relativistic magnetron is a promising source of high power microwave.
