A New Approach to the Software Release Planning

This paper presents a new approach to the software release planning problem. This approach presents a mathematical formulation that takes into account several important aspects to this problem, such as stakeholders´ satisfaction, costs, deadlines, available resources, efforts needed, risks management and requirements interdependencies. Results from an experimental data set using a well-known metaheuristic show evidence that the proposed approach is very effective to model the features of this problem. Additionally, a comparison of human competitiveness with the proposed approach shows that the proposed approach outperforms human-based solutions.
