Abstract :
Considering the hybrid nature of manufacturing systems where continuity and discreteness coexist, a hybrid analytic and simulation modeling approach for manufacturing systems using Arena, MATLABpsilas Simulink and Statflow is proposed. According to different simulation demands in different resolution level, the multi-resolution model is divided into three levels, so it can reveal both microscopic continuous characteristics of cutting and global discrete feature of the whole system. ActiveX Automation, VBA technology and excel link are used to implement the communication between Arena and MATLAB. The simulation of an actual case indicates that the method is feasible and effective.
