Abstract :
The Wideband Gapfiller Satellite (WGS) will provide unprecedented X-band user coverage flexibility with two digitally controlled multibeam phased array antennas. This paper describes the operational concept to show how arrays will provide a significant advance in operational flexibility and communications capability. The design and analysis methods are described to show the feasibility and maturity of the technology for this application, and potential for expanded use in future systems.
